Theia Vision Care™

Direct Eye Care/Insurance

What is Direct Eye Care?

At Theia Vision Care™, we are proud to be one of the leaders in the Direct Care movement, which strives to improve healthcare by putting doctors and patients back together, no longer separated by the insurance company. When the middleman is eliminated, all of the associated costs are eliminated as well. By removing the barriers between the doctor and patient, we can focus on one goal: exceeding your expectations.

The Direct Eye Care model we employ removes third party restrictions that many insurance companies place on medical services and products to be in-network.

When doctors’ offices are contracted with insurance companies, prices for care are artificially inflated to compensate for healthcare providers only receiving a percentage, which in most cases, is a small percentage back from insurance companies as reimbursement. Doctors will often offer additional testing and/or products to help compensate for low insurance reimbursements. Those products and tests are not always covered by insurance, increasing the out-of-pocket cost for the patient.

Instead of changing how we practice eye care to fit what the insurance companies deem as necessary, this approach allows us to practice what we see as essential care: doing the best for the health and well being of the patient. This way, instead of jumping through hoops to save money while potentially sacrificing quality of care, we pass the savings directly on to you.

Insurance plus healthcare makes for one unpredictable and expensive combination. We simplify it. You save money.

Benefits of Direct Eye Care

All Patients Are Welcome

We will always accept new patients and never turn you away, regardless of what insurance plan you may or may not have.

You are always welcome even if you do not have vision insurance. If you have insurance, you can apply your out-of-network benefits. We uphold Direct Care to offer lower, upfront prices to make it more affordable for everyone to get quality eye care.

Greater Access to the Doctor

We reserve up to 60 minutes for each comprehensive eye exam, in comparison to the average 9 minutes patients get to spend with their eye doctors.

You deserve this time so all of your questions are answered, eye care needs are met, and you understand everything clearly. This is your time, your exam, your health.

Affordable and Transparent Pricing

Since we cut out the middleman, saving time and money on all ends, we’re able to offer you greater savings in return. We do this via lower, upfront prices, making it more affordable to receive quality care for you and your family.

No hidden fees. No surprises. All of our pricing is posted on the website clearly for all to see. Simple, honest, and fair.

Insurance Coverage

If you have insurance and/or a vision plan, contact your provider directly to find out your out-of-network benefits with us. We will provide you the necessary paperwork to submit for reimbursement to the insurance company.

You can always use your flexible spending pre-tax dollars, such as FSA and HSA.

Overall Simplified Eye Care

Insurance plus healthcare makes for one unpredictable and expensive combination.

With our Direct Care model we take away the uncertainty. We simplify eye care for you without sacrificing quality of care.

Do you take insurance?

We welcome everyone regardless of insurance. We are an out-of-network eye care provider. This means that you can use insurance and/or vision plan benefits with us by contacting your insurance company and submitting our receipt to them. If you have coverage, contact your provider directly to find out what your out-of-network benefits are with us. We will provide you with an itemized copy of your receipts that includes the medical coding from the doctor needed to submit to the insurance company. Your insurance company will then respond to you directly with the details of your reimbursement acceptance or denial. Not only does this save you money but often pays for services that may not be covered. Since our comprehensive exam does not partition services like visual fields and pictures of the back of the eye, they are always included. This means that they would fall under reimbursement when in-network they are typically denied. In short, you get better care, more comprehensive services, more time with the doctor and possibly better coverage.

We also accept flexible spending, pre-tax dollars, including FSA (Flex Spending Account) and HSA (Health Savings Account). Any medical device such as prescription glasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and their accessories qualify for flex spending. If you have any ‘use it or lose it’ funds in either of these accounts, consider spending them on a new pair of prescription glasses before the end of the year.

It’s your health – don’t let an insurance company tell you how to best care for you.
It’s your money – don’t let an insurance company tell you how to spend it.
